Naomi Circle
The Naomi Circle’s name comes from the book of Ruth. Naomi, the daughter-in-law, was a woman of faith, love, devotion and duty. We in the Naomi Circle show these qualities in our work in the United Methodist Women of Dunnellon.
The women of the Naomi Circle are very active in mission work. We support many organizations that help children, abused women, the prison ministry, and we put money into scholarships for our involved seniors at this church.
Naomi Circle benefactors for 2007 include: Citrus County Resource Center, Women’s Abuse Shelters, Food-4-Kids, Underpants for Elementary Schools, Bibles and Hymnals for Church, Dunnellon Police Department, Citrus County Family Resource Center, Pastor Eddie and family.
The Naomi Circle meets the first Wednesday of the month. at 9:30 either in Fellowship Hall or at the home of a member.
Ruth Circle
Ruth Circle was named for deceased charter member Ruth Hinson. It is an active group of women seeking deeper faith and understanding through programs presented by members at monthly meetings and reaching out to the community through its many projects.
The women of the Ruth Circle are also actively involved in specific mission work. The support missionary Nancy Meade, organizations that help children, those that distribute food, the Prayer Quilt Ministry, County Quilters, the Christian Women’s Club and Marion County Schools.
Ruth Circle benefactors for 2007 include: United Methodist Children’s Home, Thanksgiving Day Basket recipients, Nancy Meade – Missionary, Volunteers for the Marion County Mentor Program, First United Methodist Church Prayer Quilt Ministry, County Quilters for the VA Hospital and baby quilts for Shands Hospital, Christian Women’s Club, and Covenant House.
Meetings are at 7pm on the first Thursday of the month, and are held in member’s homes or in the Fellowship Hall. Visitors are always welcome to attend these meetings and new members are encouraged.
Virginia Circle
Each circle chooses its name to depict something dear to them. The name “Virginia” was chosen to commemorate a former member we felt embodied the true spirit of Christianity. Virginia Ellerman spent her years in service to our Lord and her fellow man. She and her husband worked diligently in the church, and in the SHARE program. We were also graced to know other Virginias: Virginia Kinkins and Virginia Lama both have represented faithfulness to our Lord and service to His people throughout their lives.
The women of the Virginia Circle actively support missions. Their efforts are in a variety of organizations which support children’s needs, providing bibles and hymnals for church, distribution of food, supplies for women’s abuse centers, and Sunshine Funds.
The following is a list of the organizations that the Virginia Circle supports: Romeo Elementary school nurse, Bibles and Hymnals for church, Thanksgiving baskets for families, Supplies for Women’s Abuse Centers, Sunshine funds for cards and postage to bring a little sunshine into lives.
Our circle meets the first Thursday of the month. at 1:30 in the Fellowship Hall.
