Mission Statement

The mission of the FUMC Parish Nurse Ministry is to serve our congregation and faith community by reflecting the compassionate healing love of Jesus Christ though the promotion of health and wholeness of body, mind, and spirit, through education and special programs.

Vision Statement

The vision of FUMC Parish Nurse Ministry is that all members of our community will increase their awareness of the link between faith and health. Spirituality is an essential component of health. A healthy community takes all of us working together: hospital staff, physicians, family members, clergy, church members and volunteers. Our physical health affects our pursuit of personal, spiritual, and emotional goals.

Healing may exist in the absence of a cure.

WHAT IS PARISH NURSING?

Parish Nursing is an emerging area of professional nursing practice.

Parish Nurses are persons of faith who are experienced registered nurses, who have received special education in holistic health care, ( the well being of the body, mind and spirit). The Parish Nurse has one foot in the sciences and the other in theology. The Parish Nurse addresses the needs of the congregation and offers support through prayer, health education, referrals to community resources and collaboration with the pastor and staff.

This ministry began in October of 2003 and has offered many programs for all ages in the areas of Health Education and Counseling, Resource and Community Liaison, Health Screenings, Health and Fitness Programs.
